Data Sources & Methodology

Transparency is core to our editorial approach. This page explains exactly where our data comes from and how we use it.

Primary Data Sources (Tier 1 — Official APIs)

Google Places API: Business name, address, phone, photos, hours, ratings, and review counts. Data is fetched via the official Google Places API and updated monthly.

Yelp Fusion API: Secondary review scores and business categories. Sourced via the official Yelp Fusion API.

BC Business Registry: Legal company name, incorporation date, and active status. Public records accessed through official channels.

Secondary Data Sources (Tier 2)

Agency websites: About pages and service descriptions are summarized (not copied) from public agency websites, with proper attribution.

LinkedIn: Company size and founding year from public company profiles.

Press releases and news: Award mentions, launches, and noteworthy coverage from public sources.

Agency-Submitted Data (Tier 3)

Agencies can claim their listing and submit verified information directly. Verification is performed via domain email confirmation (the agency must control their website domain).

Agencies can update their own profiles through our dashboard.

Editorial Scoring Methodology

Our editorial score (0-10) is based on: portfolio quality and design excellence, technical implementation and performance, client reviews and satisfaction, pricing transparency, range and depth of services, and market reputation. Scores are assigned by our editorial team and reviewed quarterly.

Composite Rating

The composite rating is a weighted average: Google rating (40%), Yelp rating (20%), and editorial score (40%, normalized to 5-point scale).

What We Do NOT Do

We do NOT directly scrape Clutch.co, DesignRush, or other directories.

We do NOT copy review text verbatim from any source.

We do NOT present third-party ratings as our own without attribution.

We do NOT guarantee the accuracy of any data point — all data is provided "as is" with source attribution.

Update Frequency

API data is refreshed monthly. Agency-submitted data is updated in real-time. Editorial scores are reviewed quarterly.
